Quality comes first in all aspects of raising our beef. Our cattle are pasture raised in a low-stress environment on grass in northwestern New Mexico and southwestern Colorado. Quality animals, quality feed, clean water, and easy handling. We start with top quality Angus and Akaushi animals, feed them on good grass and hay, and finish them with grain. Providing quality care and attention to the cattle throughout their lives ensures the best steaks on your plate.
Spear F Cattle Company’s beef is all natural, with no added hormones, antibiotics, or steroids. They are grass fed, and grain finished.
Angus has been the standard for quality beef in America for many years. It’s great tasting, has beautiful marbling, and is tender and tasty. Our foundation cow herd is Angus. We use some of the best Angus bulls in the country in our AI program, paying particular attention to marbling and carcass traits. Daughters of these AI sires are added to our cowherd.

Akaushi beef has a unique composition. It is more tender, more flavorful, and has increased marbling compared to Angus meat. Akaushi beef has a ratio of healthy fats that helps lower cholesterol and supports weight loss. Akaushi contains more mono-unsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and oleic acid than salmon. The MUFA content of Akaushi is up to 300% higher than normal beef, and is an excellent source of essential omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids- similar to olive oil and avocados.
When cooking Akaushi beef, you actually cook your meat at a lower temperature. It’s a little adjustment that really allows the flavor of the meat to come to the forefront, and the tenderness to shine.
